At least 16 people were injured, seven critically, following a gas explosion in Rue Saint-Jacques in the fifth arrondissement of Paris, local officials said Wednesday. The explosion also started a fire that sent smoke over city monuments, leading to evacuations. The cause of the blast is not known.
